The 3 Best Luxury SUVs for Alexandria

In the last few years, the market for luxury SUVs and crossovers has exploded, and they’re now a common sight on the streets of Alexandria, Virginia. No longer are SUVs simply for soccer moms — as the following cars demonstrate, they’re among the most desirable vehicles on the road today.

2017 Range Rover TD6

Range Rovers have always been the kings of SUVs, and the TD6 is no exception to this rule. It still leads the way in terms of luxury, as it comes loaded with fantastic features. Under the hood it’s a beast, and the top-of-the-range version comes with a jaw-dropping 500-plus horsepower. While it’s unlikely that you’ll need that much power, the more affordable models still pack a powerful punch. Should you need to take it off-road, the four-wheel drive that comes as standard lets you overcome anything in your path. The TD6 also offers great fuel economy for an SUV, with up to 30 mpg on the highway, making it one of the more cost-effective luxury SUVs out there. The Best Cars for Under $100K

Some people can spare more for a car than others, but even when your upper limit is higher than that of other folks, that doesn’t mean you want to put down six figures on a vehicle. If you can afford a luxury vehicle but you don’t want to spend more than $100,000, you should know which cars are your best options.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350/R

The original pony car is still around, and the latest version offers a surprisingly wide range of prices from affordable to extravagant. It has this range thanks to the low-end trims coming with standard engines and parts while the high-end trims come with some impressive performance features. For example, some models come with a 5.2-liter V8 engine that generates 526 horsepower and track apps that record things like acceleration and lap times when you take your car to the local speedway. The Shelby GT350/R is a true racing machine and drops every bit of unneeded weight, like the back seats and the audio system.

Topping the list is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. This mighty machine has a stunning 707 horsepower in a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The car’s highly masculine build makes it one of the ultimate muscle cars in this class. No other car can give you this kind of power for this price.

Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac is well-known for offering its uniquely American version of the luxury car. With the Cadillac CTS-V, you can experience the luxury features and design elements of a Cadillac car with the performance you’d expect from a race car. This model features 640 horsepower from a 6.2-liter V8 engine. Cadillac claims that this model can go as fast as 200 miles per hour with its eight-speed automatic transmission, though there are few places where you can legally go that fast. The price for the Cadillac CTS-V starts around $80,000.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is a beautiful coupe-style sports car with a stylish spoiler and a highly sculpted body; it will turn heads whether you’re zipping along Independence Avenue or stuck in afternoon traffic on the highway. It can comfortably seat up to four passengers at a time and is available in the classic bright sports car colors Chevy has become known for. The price starts around $60,000, which many drivers say is quite a deal.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

The Ford Mustang has long been one of the most iconic sports cars in the United States. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 builds upon that legacy to create a one-of-a-kind beauty complete with wide and contrasting racing stripes that you can see from miles away. The 5.2-liter V8 engine delivers a whopping 526 horsepower and 429 pounds per foot of torque. It can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in an astonishing 4.3 seconds. One of the best features about the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is its price of just over $50,000, which makes it among the most affordable sports cars on the market today. Feel Like You’ve Finally Made It in the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

No other vehicles on the planet have the same allure, luxury, and versatility as Land Rover. They add this bundle of qualities without seeming pretentious or gaudy. Experience Land Rover for yourself when you sit behind the wheel of the brand new 2017 Discovery. Mixing ruggedness with opulence is no easy task, but the British SUV does it in stride. That’s what has made the vehicle a critic’s dream and a driver’s delight since 1989. Whether you’re exploring the unknown or driving to work, feel like you’ve finally made it in the 2017 Land Rover Discovery.

The Rugged Side

The Discovery’s handsome exterior nearly undermines its expertly designed underpinnings, which allow it to tear up the off-road. It has some of the best-in-class clearance at 11.1-inches, and it’s designed to wade into waters nearly 3 feet deep. As always, this Land Rover has four-wheel drive, but this year, the Discovery comes with the available Terrain Response 2 driving system. This allows the Discovery to sense the surrounding terrain and automatically adjust the drive mode to fit. The result is off-road driving at its finest.

The Power

Under the hood, the 2017 Discovery offers two engine options, yet neither lack where it counts. The standard engine is a robust, supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that delivers maximum power with 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. However, it’s the turbodiesel engine that may turn more heads. Designed with more torque and more off-road prowess in mind, this 3.0-liter diesel beast gets only 254 horsepower, but it makes up for it with a whopping 443 pound-feet of torque. With this extra torque, it can navigate boulders and mountains at slower speeds without losing traction. Either way, you can’t go wrong with the engine choices of the Discovery. Fuel economy statistics aren’t yet available, but expect the Discovery to achieve somewhere around last year’s mark of 26 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city.

The Interior

Though many rough-and-tumble vehicles trade limited interior features for off-road ability, the Land Rover Discovery makes no such compromise. Inside, it has a comfortable, roomy cabin, draped in leather and offering accommodation for up to seven people. If you have gear to haul, it also offers up to 85 cubic feet of space. Luxury and convenience features abound in the Discovery. The uncluttered, contemporary layout of the dash allows you to connect all your mobile devices seamlessly, and they’re easy to control with a 10-inch, touch-screen display. Dual-zone climate control makes sure you’re always comfortable, and an easy-to-read instrument cluster lets you know just how you’re driving.

The Style

On the exterior, the Discovery is nothing short of spectacular. Sleek lines and curves blend harmoniously throughout, bringing luxury and toughness together without a hitch. The modern design also blends form and function for a beautiful, head-turning body. Throw in some unique wheels of your choice, and there’s nothing quite like the Discovery. With the 2017 Land Rover Discovery, you get so much more than your average SUV. You get a vehicle that’s up for the task of the great outdoors, as well as a vehicle that’s apt to roll up to a red carpet event. Look for it in showrooms in mid-2017.

Mercedes-Benz Already Looking Ahead to the 2018 E-Class Coupe

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe is just as classy as ever with a sleek exterior and smooth handling. While the full specs aren’t available yet, we do know that the cabin is more spacious and the powerful engine provides impressive acceleration times. Here’s everything else we know so far.

This vehicle is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, or E400 and E400 4MATIC, respectively. Both models have the same engine as their predecessor: a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that generates 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Unlike the 2017 version, which has a seven-speed automatic transmission, the newest coupe comes standard with a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. It shifts quickly between gears even at lower speeds, making for a smooth drive. Just as you would expect from a sporty vehicle, the 2018 E-Class coupe accelerates quickly, with the E400 going from zero to 60 in 5.2 seconds and the E400 4MATIC coming in at 5.5 seconds.

You’ll get five different driving modes with this vehicle: Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. Both models have a standard lowered suspension with selective damping that helps to shield the driver and passengers from bumps in the road. Drivers can opt for the available air body control suspension. This advanced technology detects driving conditions and adjusts as necessary, providing roll, pitch, and heave stabilization. Driving around those corners feels smooth and effortless in this vehicle.

The company took the E-Class sedan design and removed many of the lines, leaving the E-Class coupe with a silhouette that’s similar to the C-Class coupe and S-Class coupe. It has the iconic diamond grille, an absent B-pillar, and a trunk lid that doubles as a spoiler. What you essentially get is a sleek and sporty-looking car. As for the interior, style details are far and few between. The instrument panel is the same as the E-Class sedan, including the optional 12.3-inch widescreen instrument cluster. Trim options include brushed aluminum, wood with a high-gloss finish, or wood as natural grain. You can also expect to find optional leather upholstery for the seats.

The interior is more spacious than before, thanks to the new platform that increases the length by 5 inches and adds 3 inches to the width. This creates extra room for the backseat passengers, making for a more comfortable ride. The coupe also has an additional 1.5 inches in height, which taller drivers and passengers will appreciate. So far, the tech features seem to meet luxury standards. You’ll get a standard 12.3-inch high-resolution infotainment display. The multimedia system with standard COMMAND Navigation pairs up with your smartphone via wireless connectivity and provides wireless charging. Compatible smartphones can also connect with Apple CarPlay and AndroidTM Auto. Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled the 2018 E-Class Coupe on Jan. 9 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It will hit the U.S. market sometime in the summer of 2017. Stay tuned to learn more about vehicle specs and the exact debut date when more information is released.
